Sourdough starter and a sick baby

Today I started our sourdough starter.

I plan on having this handy for the indefinite future. Daniel asks for sourdough, but I then have to say, "in a week you can have some because I have to make the starter and let it sit for a few days." And then I never get around to making the starter. I'm just going to keep feeding the starter so I'll always have some on hand.

I also am going to delve into making our own kefir water. I need to order our water kefir grains tomorrow so that I'll be able to start growing them next week. I'll let you all know how that goes. I figure kefir water looks a little bit easier than kombucha, which we might try making some time in the future.

This little guy is sick:(
He started feeling miserable this afternoon. He's happy if he's asleep (which he's pretty much done since this afternoon). No fever, but a raspy voice and runny nose at times. Pray for my little guy, that he'll get better tonight. I made a home remedy of cinnamon, ginger and honey with tea. I gave him a tiny bit AND THEN I remembered that you aren't supposed to give kids under 12 months old honey! My heart sank. So I prayed that he would be ok and then kept reassuring myself because he really didn't have that much.
