On your marks, get set, go!

Today was the big race day. Daniel ran his first 10K. He ran it in just under 52 minutes! Remember, 10K is 6.2 miles. He was not impressed with his time, but he was happy with it. He is going to run the Army 10 Miler in DC this fall. It's so funny (wonderful, not goofy) to see how much he's changed these past 3 months. I remember him giving himself a mock PT test back in NY and he could barely finish the 2 mile without feeling like he was going to keel over. It was pitiful (from what he used to be able to run). Well, now he runs a 5K no problem, and the 10K was a nice work out. He was tired, but not about to keel over.
Getting ready for the start of the 10K
Sprint it out!:) He placed 6th for his age group and 44th overall:)

At the start of the 1 mile fun run. Look at how cute they both are!
Yahaira impressed us tremendously. She ran an entire mile without stopping or complaining, in less than 11 minutes, in a dress and crocs! When we left the house this morning she had said that she didn't want to run the fun run. So we dressed in not running clothes and footwear. Well, after Daddy finished his run she decided that she did want to run the fun run. Daniel ran with her and she rocked!
On the home stretch of the course
See, she did beat Daddy!
Yay for running!
So in honor of her great achievement, we went shopping and bought her proper running shoes (since her other running shoes were Dora sneakers)
Crisp and clean
Great for leaping
Playing out in the water. We broke the mat from our too strong water pressure (that or it's just a too cheaply made in China cheap).
 And for dinner?
Chicken and leek risotto
