Happy birthday to you!

Today is the former baby's 1st birthday. I say former because he is no longer a baby. Yahaira made him  a birthday cake. It was chocolate with cream cheese frosting. He doesn't seem to enjoy sweets that much, which neither did Yahaira for the longest time. The cake was delicious to all the rest of us. We measured the ingredients (flour, butter, sugar, milk, water, eggs) by weight and not by cups. We weighed our eggs and then added equal weights of flour, butter, sugar, milk and water. We used 1 1/2 teaspoon (each) baking powder and baking soda and 1 scant teaspoon salt. We used unsweetened cocoa, but we didn't measure that...just what looked like enough. Maybe use 1/2 the weight of the eggs for the cocoa, or 1/4. Our water was hot water (if that makes a difference). The batter was very runny, but the cake turned out so very moist!

Daniel is super congested. Every night is a battle to find a comfortable position to breath and sleep in. Israella still gets this way a lot too. I really think it has to do with where we're located (physically). Each spring and fall we all tend to get very phlemy (is that a word?). Like down in your lungs mucus cough.

Yahaira is doing swimming lessons again:) Hopefully keeping her in the pool weekly will prevent her from loosing her swimming skills, since that's what seemed to happen over this past fall/winter/spring.

Israella decided she wants to do soccer, so that will be starting this fall. She is so cute, but so off in her own little world at times. Hopefully she'll find her niche and come out from under Yahaira's shadow. I feel that she is overpowered a lot: by me, by Daddy, by Yahaira. I want her to find her wings and soar (when she's ready) and not let everyone else dictate what she ought to do/like.

Well, here are picture to enjoy:
