2012 Army 10 Miler- Washington D.C.

On Sunday Daniel ran the 2012 Army 10 Miler in Washington D.C. He ran it along with 30,000 other runners. They ran through D.C. on a clear cool morning. Daniel was glad I told him to pack a long sleeve running shirt instead of just a short sleeve one. Yahaira also ran on Sunday morning. She ran the kid's fun run- which was so. very. disorganized. (And might I add that a lot of parents are CRAZY! I thought a fight was sure to breakout between some of those adults.) At least she had fun.

Here we are race morning
Looking for Daddy, like a needle in a haystack...at least we knew which wave to look in:
When his wave (the second one) got ready to move to the start line we found him (and gave him the sunglass he had forgot to take when he left the hotel that morning)

Do you notice the blue and green running bibs in the picture? This was the red group, yet so many people kept jumping groups...annoying!
Saying hi and wishing him a wonderful run

At the finish line. He ran it in 81:22. He said the first mile was like a shuffle because they were so many people. That's still awesome in my book!

Yahaira getting ready for her run (or sprint as it was)

And baby Daniel looking adorable....who is 17 pounds and 7 ounces by the way!

The race was fun, but other than that the trip was stressful. It was not the fun 4-day weekend I thought it was going to be...but some of that had to do with the last minute change of plans to accommodate Daniel's schedule.

We learned that our family is too big for a tiny hotel room. We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott, but we need something with 2 separate areas. Better yet, we should just rent a house or condo from now on. If we do the race again we'll pick up the race packet Friday night and not do the pasta dinner (with kiddos in tow). That would give us all day Saturday to enjoy the free sights in DC. Live and learn.

The kids and I did make it to the zoo Saturday...after being at the expo for hours and getting worn out.
C'est la vie!
