Daniel's in love.
We ought to buy a cabin up there.
But back to the trip. We rented a barn that was converted into a house, Fodderstack Cabin, which was lovely and very very peaceful. Aunt Bethy came along for the trip...sorry you spend most of your visit in a car!!!! The girls LOVED having her around. Even Baby Daniel warmed up to her when she was leaving (you should have stayed longer).
We got there Thursday night, late. Friday we woke up and went straight to the forest. Our original plan was to go slide down Sliding Rock, but I forgot the girl's floaties at home (there's a 6 ft pool of water at the bottom of the waterfall) and then we were informed that the water temperature almost never gets above 60 degrees. I didn't need my kids to get sick from being completely immersed in ice cold water. So instead we hiked around, went across a suspension bridge, saw 2 waterfalls, splashed in the cold streams and went to the Cradle of Forestry Center. All in all we had a splendid time. Baby Daniel did have a fever Thursday night (I think teething) and Israella had one Friday night (but all better Saturday morning). If you are around the Georgia/ Tennessee/ North Caroline/ South Carolina border smorgasbord area you should really get outside and enjoy God's amazingly beautiful creation!
