Making a pinata

While in KY Yahaira and I made a pinata for my sister's birthday (which is next Saturday). It was our first attempt at this, and less durable cardboard is better if little ones are going to be the ones hitting the thing.

Start with a cardboard box of your choice (or make a paper mache if you're adventurous)

Cover it completely in tissue paper (to hid the box label better)

Cut individual strips of paper and then cut into each strip (BUT NOT ALL THE WAY THROUGH) to make the fringe

It works best if you fold the strip of paper several times and then make the cuts  (time saver)

Start at the BOTTOM! Glue the strips of paper on (not gluing the fringe part) in an overlapping arrangement 

Fill will desired surprises, attach string to hang it with, glue the top of the box shut and then glue on fringe for the top.

Let dry (a few hours), hang up and start whacking away at it:)
